We are probably on the same boat. I got my sidekick before I got my s 4g. I don't regret getting it, I really missed the phone actually. It had the best keyboard. It was decent, I loved glorious overdose v2. It was just the lack of development. But since my phone couldn't connect to any carrier because the phone's imei was blocked cause the guy that sold it to me probably found it or stole it, so I sold it and got a s 4g. Our phones are pretty similar. Hows the vibrant?

The only reason i can see for not porting these newer roms to the sidekick is simply a lack of users and developers. I think there is less user base for the sidekick than the HTC hero, not to mention the previous incarnations of the sidekick were plagued by issues.
But to close out, I honestly think the sidekick is more than capable of running GB, ICS, and maybe even Jellybean.
Well lets see... the G1 was the first android phone ever. They have an ICS rom for it! So yes, I honestly think that every Android phone on the planet is "capable" of running GB, ICS, and probably JB too.

You're right. I have a G1, and it is currently running GB cyanogenmod 7.2. I have run ICS, and although it is still very unstable, it runs. It's a shame that the sidekick keeps being revived by these companies only to be horribly neglected. I personally don't own a sidekick, but my friend does. She loves it, and owned the old model also; the very reason she got the 4g. Unfortunately the previous model was nice but it had issues. Now the 4g is full of potential, but neglected by samsung and left to die a slow agonizing death.

If there were more devs on this phone im sure it would really pick up, but then again its not like Samsung released any decent code. From what i read in earlier posts Samsung's code for this phone is nothing but a hot mess.

Some guy tried, he got some parts down. He's looooong gone though. Either too annoying to work on, or complicwated. Don't know.

Don't get a doubleplay. You think this thing has no support? That thing don't even have CWM, the only thing they've managed to do since that phone was released was to root it. My friend has it and its stock ROM sucks as much as ours.
