There is a fully functional 2.6.38 kernel from tiamat that could be used as a base. The problem is that we can't get any kernel newer than 2.6.35 to boot. It fails when trying to initialize the MMU. See here.

You can get the last dmesg (kernel log) file from bootloader after the crash. MAGLDR has a button to save it to SD, with cLK you need to use USB - see the cLK thread for details.

DONATE TO ME
I don't know much about kernel development, but is there any chance Mark's .35 kernel could contain elements allowing it to pass MMU init and could ported over? (not sure how much diffrent their bases are :/ )

Ah, next crash I'll be using that to store the kernel log. Thanks for pointing that out.

Same here.

Two questions about zram: Is there any Android device out there that uses zram? Will more ram be an advantage when our devices need to do a lot of compressing/decompressing to use that more ram?

Any suggestion is welcome, thanks!
I am not an expert when it comes to kernels but.. without intending any insult to anyone I had a nightmare of a time for a while when I tried various Dorimanx kernels. Way too unstable for me to stay with, sorry.

Cheers!

Mark is one of the guys working on getting the newer kernels to boot, so he most likely would have tried that if it would be feasible.

Since installing this kernel I am seeing a fair number of "process system not responding" messages. This generally happens when the CPU is maxed at 100% for some time (logical). In every case, pressing WAIT resolves the issue without any problems.

So, I got to wonder... Is there some way to simply increase the timeout value? I understand the specific time is an Android default but increasing it would eliminate at least some of these pop-ups.

Just a thought..

Default Interesting stuff

I found an AI Factory game that can reliably reboot the device. While the app itself may well be at fault it is interesting that whenever the game gets to a certain point the HD2 will pause for a couple seconds and do a full reboot. I attempted to catch a log but could not spot anything worthwhile in it. I could not even see any reference to the game so am not sure if the log is of any use or not.

If anyone is interested it is attached along with a dmesg dump.

Another, just as interesting side result of the reboot is that each time this happens the infamous HD2 low volume bug surfaces. Running "fix permissions" corrects it but if the phone simply restarts out of this game the volume will be nearly inaudible. I don't have a clue what the relationship is but there is something in common..

Cheers!
