Is everyone giving up on this?
I dont see anyone even trying.
I am currently teaching myself programing just so i can start to look at the locked bootloader. If no one is bothered are is even going to try you might as well close the threads and just start a lumia 700 thread which also lists a couple of lumia 800 roms for those who can flash.
I am annoyed at having to check the forum everyday (literally, for the last 6-7months) for an update, there is not going to be one, i will pursuit with my learning and try finding a solution, i doubt ill share it though as it seems pointless.

1. You will not find a solution. Dev & Security experts didn't find a thing and you're just learning.

Ofcourse.u cant teach urself programming and then come up with a bootloader unlock
i mean , think of the many ppl in front of u...dont give up programming, u can still create a homebrew though, if possible
but let go on the unlock as i have too.

so it would seem that it is impossible. Have to say well done to Nokia on that one but does this mean that future nokia phones will be un-breakable? This could be a real problem I mean we have been beat
Correct...as u know the WP8 devices will have secure boot, so nokia with upcoming WP8 wil be unbreakable for sure.
And they did a good job on the Lumia too, but somehow devs managed unlock and 710 was lucky.
So we have to live with this fact...or like android OS is giving away rooting tools and apps and games Free to use, move on to that OS, which i will never do!!

There are techniques to build up a community and in this thread we fail miserably.
We all know that this is a DEV community, however those obnoxious replies do not help.
You can still convey the message that this is a DEV thread but still be polite about it.
I have a Lumia 800 with old firmware (but DLOAD) just in case something comes up and I can unlock it.
However I do not have the full picture on what to do.
If experienced members in this thread do not help, then the project is stuck.
I floated the idea for a IRC DEV discussion for the Lumia 800. If only an experienced member can offer themselves on IRC, I do not see something good happening.

I understand its a 'DEV' Thread but i don't see much 'Developing' going on. I didn't mean to annoy any one but it is frustrating to see people giving up. By the looks of things it is going to be impossible but your negative comments will not change this, for some one who is learning any information is information.
I am currently working on a piece of software which is used to flash images to devices. Using this i am hoping to use one or more of the old standard roms, to compile a suitable image worth flashing, and begin trying to unlock the bootloader.
If any one has any input for me or could p/m the information they have that would be very helpful, i am not going to give up, i love my Lumia.

Hi guys,
In case you missed it, Lumia's have been completely hacked by an old friend, Phillipines hacker (X-Shadow). It will need to get your hands dirty(soldering needed,removing of metal shields), also no free software available yet. But is a good start, could be used for rooting, boot repair, simunlock, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Requires an unlocked bootloader (a.k.a. qualcomm development bootloader).
Easy to check: Turn the phone OFF, then press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until you notice a short vibration. Plug in to the computer. If the phone turns up in disk mode (USB Mass Storage Device), then you have an unlocked bootloader. IF you're in Windows, it will ask if you want to format the disk. SAY NO OR IT WILL EXPLODE (it won't explode but you might break it)
If the device detected by the computer is Nokia DLOAD you have a locked bootloader and you're out of luck, at least for now.
I used 'dd' in Linux, I guess you can do it with Windows version too (http://www.chrysocome.net/dd) but it's more involved to find the appropiate partition:
dd if=./os-new.nb of=/dev/sdX9
Where X is the disk detected by your linux distribution.
After that, you'll need to hard reset the phone. Hold Power button for 10 seconds to exit Qualcomm's disk mode, and press and hold POWER+VOLUMEDOWN+CAMERA until you feel the phone vibrate. After that, RELEASE power button but KEEP HOLDING volume down + camera for five or more seconds. This will trigger the hard reset.
Now time to play with bootloaders and try to get this to work for everyone!

Well, you can always make a backup and then restore via zune. The thing is the dumped OS is about 600Mb, the generated image is 378Mb. I don't know how it will reside on the flash, you could always check where the flash starts to get filled with zeros and clean it up before the first boot... If they had done it right and separated user data from the main OS we wouldn't have this problem...

I was hoping to be able to crack Nokia's osbl, but time already run out and wasn't able to get it. So sorry, guys, but I had to return both Lumias. It's been a fun month, and at least I helped getting custom roms for at least some of you.

Implants DPP partition with your stock Live Id to a custom rom.
Usage:
1) Put backup of the biggest partition to the folder with DppImplant.exe and call it "stock.nb"
2) Put "os-new.nb" there - target firmware in which you want to see your old Live Id.
3) Open DppImplant.exe. It will extract DPP from stock.nb and create mydpp.bin file. (After that you won't really need to have stock.nb in that folder).
"os-new.nb" will be patched.
4) Done.
P.S. if you open DPP using Notepad or any hex editor, you'll see saved Live Id.6Ok L710 fully unlocked
