Update:

There is a magnet but it is a few millimeters too high. If you adjust your device accordingly it works.

In the picture, the mig net is right under the tip of my finger. Your magnet looks much further into the middle of the case. If that is true, then that's a manufacturer defect.

Mine is very close to the middle. My Nexus is a good 3/4 inch hanging to the right of the front cover for the magnet to activate. No Bueno.

Where on the device is the smart cover trigger/magnet is placed? Do you happen to have any idea?

I am weirdly relieved that our guys are out there with similar issues as me I.e. no smart cover function.

I can't see mine but it should be located closer to the spine so that when closed, is on top of the bezel just above where you see four golden pins.

Anyone heard anything from Portenzo? Anyone else with a similar problem?

Just got my hardback, missing magnets/misplaced as well. Got a response this morning from Lee that a replacement would be on its way.
Green apple, light blue linen and black elastic. Damn you Portenzo and your cool cases.

Heard from them this morning. They stated a small batch went out with a Smart Magnet problem. They are sending out replacements this week.
