This dude thought they were alright, but preferred a certain $7 set of earbuds:

And I ordered said certain set of earbuds to see what the hype is all about. Apparently if you want to step up from these $7 earbuds, the next best sounding ones are $90 Velodynes. That sounds pretty amazing, but I will know first hand in a few days.

Oh yeah, those $7 ones:

My skullcandy buds work perfectly fine for me, they are crisp, clear, and sound great. Plus they come with 3 different sizes to change from if they don't fit snug in your ear.

THIS, exactly the same for me, they are better than earbuds (i have used both and kept the skullcandy ones). Plus only the play/pause button works on the earbuds.

(i do use sennheiser hd 280 pro for my home headphones though)

Are you inferring that FLAC, ALAC, TTA doesn't matter? You're talking about using compression algorithm which is a destructive way to listen to the music. And believe me most audiophiles never use $10 generic earbuds. In fact many of them still listen to music through entirely valve-driven headphone amplifier & output them on headphones like denon, shure, etymotic, akg etc with a good 'burn-in'.

Um...what? You have no clue what you're talking about. $10 earbuds will not even begin to compare to even skullcandy (utter ****) earbuds.

I tried them with my phone and mp3 player. You're better off saving the money and getting something worthwhile.

While the sound quality is pretty good there's no seal which means absolutely no bass or treble.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on the Internet.

I just got some and I like them, not much for range though, as mentioned.
