Hallom i want to say that the vsync or tearing problem is almost solved in duttys new Roms (1.9+)

You have to look twice to see a triangular shape that refreshes about 0.3 secs after the rest of the screen. What i think is strange is, that the triangle is at the same side of the screen if i turn my hd. I mean if i turn it 90° its the upper right corner (volumebuttons facing down) if i turn it -90° (volumebuttons upside) its the upper left corner.
So the sync problem is always at the side of the hw touch buttons

Maybe it helps someone... but imo this problem isn't as great as people say

Do you have a source for this claim, last I read on the Corecodec forum Betaboy said 1.4 is going to be another bug fix release, no changes as far as hardware acceleration for Qualcomm MSM is concerned. Full hardware support has been promised for one of the upcoming releases, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation...

No matter how you look at it, the involved parties might not even have a strong motivation to improve on the MSM's capabilities as there are new products with new chipsets coming out and a, shall we say, destinct difference in performance is a good thing to move the prospective customers to purchasing those newer devices and abandon the ones they already got. Face it, MSM devices are 'dead meat' as far as these companies are concerned.

If you are fine with what your HD can do now it's all dandy, if you are hoping for markedly improved performance sometime soon, don't hold your breath.

On a more positive note, the HD does a lot of things considerably well and I agree I'd still take it over the Iphone or any other device currently available. Haven't seen any newer devices that have way nicer aesthetics or a better overall design, for me HTC hit a sweet spot between screen size and pocketability.

Either way full QTv support is a must considering that it will be a universal solution for every QTv enabled chipset and that means that it will work on msm7xxx, QSD8xxx (current snapdragon designation) and recently announced msm8xxx. At least this is what BetaBoy stated when announcing that they came to terms with qualcomm.

The next version will be 1.3.x and after that we should expect version 2.0 and this should be the version that comes either with directshow compatibility (this would allow CP to access QTv just like WMP and HTC album does) or with full hardware support.
But remember that what I say is based on informations found on CC forum and that everything can change with time.

I was referring to the CC forum, as I said, there are some promises but no deadlines, so nothing to rely on. If you go through various posts you will find mention of a 1.4 version and a 1.5 milestone, none of which promise hardware acceleration for MSM.

After having followed these announcements for a while now and given what transpired at WMC it seems highly unlikely to me that Corecodec will come out with a hardware accelerated version of Coreplayer for MSM7201a chipset devices before e.g. the Toshiba TG01 and similar devices have made their market appearance, simply because Qualcomm would not want that to happen. So we are talking June or July or even later than that.

That's just the video part, which is not really the topic of this thread, but it's interesting nevertheless as full hardware acceleration (which was promised) for Qtv vs. using directshow filters would show the real potential of the Qtv feature.

In analogy to this fully optimized drivers for 3D would show the true limitations of this chipset, what I suspect (others might too) is, that there are no such drivers to date or that they aren't really worth paying for...either way, this thread is the best hope for all of us to get better performance if any.

Actually they many times said that 1.3 will be the last from the first generation and then they will release version 2.0. Those posts about version 1.4 and 1.5 are old and in new ones you will see that the next milestone version should be 2.0 if everything goes according to the plan.

If they come with the solution for toshiba's TG01 then it should apply for msm7201 chipsets cause they both use QTv although snapdragon is more powerful and has NEON that should help decode things that can't be decoded using QTv.

No offense, but would be, should be doesn't change the fact there are no confirmed release dates, like I said, vague predictions on their behalf, nothing more.
Their milestones aren't exactly set in stone...no use arguing about something they haven't figured out entirely themselves.

The TG01 will be released this summer = no hardware acceleration in Coreplayer for MSM7201 before this release.

Hi,

I still have the standard drivers on my blackstone.

Can I improve Morphgear's performance with an other driver? And what about the crash when closing Opera Mobile? Is this fixed?

I am seriously considering switching to another device because of this landscape redraw/tearing issue. I see it in videos, web browsing, games....

A phone this expensive shouldnt have these issues.

i know this may sound stupid, but is there not any chance of us BUYING the drivers from Qualcom?

We could all pitch in to help pay, but then again that really depends on the cost/feasibility of doing this. any thoughts?
