I just recently flashed my phone with the leaked test ROM from ATT with the new radio bla bla bla. I Had a touch before this and also flashed a new rom to that phone but it too was a leaked version. That said, if a Rom is made specifically for the fuze do we have to flash first with HARDSPL or can we just flash that rom. I've noticed in a lot of rom threads they have different options... fuze users, non fuze users etc. I was just curious if it was for the fuze if I didnt need to run HardSPL.

How do I back up my SPL in order to restore it if I need to send the phone back for warranty?

Thanks guys

(ps I DID read through the thread as much as I could to find an answer but couldn't find anyone talking about this)
If its a Rom that is from the same regiom/ vendor as the original Rom on your phone then you dont need to flash HardSPL first, you can just upgrade the Rom to the latest version as long as its not a cooked version. HardSPL allows you to flash Roms from different regions/ vendors from your original Rom. Its always adviseable to flash a HardSPL first because if anything goes wrong with your flash and you dont have HardSPL then you might not be able to get back into the Bootloader to recover the Rom and your phone will be bricked.

If you need to flash back your original SPL for waranty purposes then read *HERE*.

I finally took the plunge and flashed an new "radio" update. the only problem I had was that it took me about 3 hours to get "RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe' to run and flash. I tried everything shown in this thread.

Then all of a sudden what ever I did differently it ran and flashed. glad i don't have to do this again. Jury is still out on the radio flash. But so far it is very good.

Default Flashing back to OEM

I have been having the random hard/soft reset problems. I have been flashing the new RRE and Energy ROMs as they come out and have been having the reset problems with both.

I am going to flash back to the OEM rom and then flash back to the newest energy rom.

Do I need to reinstall Hardspl after I flash the OEM?

Should I flash back the orginal or new radio? I am using .01 right now.

Any other sugestions to fix the reset problem?

No. "Hard" means it cannot be overwritten with a normal flash, you have to use a SSPL to remove it.

I'm not sure on how to fix the problem... sorry - other than Hard Reset and flash a OEM rom, radio and see if they have the same prob...

That's weird about the hard resets. I've read about that happening on both ROMs, but I've used the Energy ROMs since 1.0 and never experienced it. What are you installing onto your phone? Maybe that's doing it. Or are you using UC/Sashimi? Maybe you're bringing along a bad registry setting or something like that (just a wild guess). But, jeez, do you really want to go back to the stock ROM? There are a bunch of stable, cooked ROMs out there that haven't had that problem (random hard resetting). Why not try one of those? Something like RomeOS2 1.51 should be fine, or one of the early NATF roms (or a bunch of other ones).

Absolutely, if you want a bug-free existence in the new ROM. Do it after the initial boot-up when the phone prompts you to align the screen. It removes junk that may have carried over from the previous ROM.
