Default Switching to panel manager FROM the new media panel freezes the phone

Phone is with the X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010 ROM and new panel manager

I have the last media panel from the library, but have a recurring issue with it.
As a whole the panel works fine (with the only issue being slow transition from landscape to portrait).
But - if I press the panel button - it freezes the whole phone - it just start to "shrink" the panel and freezes. I tried to take a screenshot, but the My Mobile connection dies as well.

After reset (as the new panel manager loads the last panel) I get the thumbnail of the panel (enlarged)

and can now load the panel selection.

Tried reinstalling the panel and the panel manager, but no improvement.

Somebody with an idea of the cause (and fix if any)?
And if not is it safe to just uninstall the new media panel?

That has happened to mine too, So I started to use the old R2A Panel Manager and ordinary Media panel

For the New Media Panel,
One thing I know, is that I cannot listen to the music as a background while playing game or open slide show. It's keep pausing after the track on the playlist is finished

It's quite old thread... anyway...The problem still open.
I've read all 31 pages of above panels thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498934) and there are no solutions for frozen phone after MPX MR2_R27 media panel usage. Reverting back to MR1_R26 verstion is not the solution for the new media panel with radio, while it eliminates device hungs. So my temporary workaround is to start playing the song or video or open picture (even if I don't want to ) before pushing "PANEL" button. It works fine and goes back to panels manager till now. Sometime it autorestart the phone though
Hope that helps somebody.

You just need to install the new RA3 panel manger from that thread before installing the new media panel .. That's how I got it to work when I was using the stock rom.

Quote:
  • NEW R3A PANEL MANAGER CAB installer -> Download link
EDIT 01 APR 09: FIXED, NOW IT WILL INSTALL CORRECTLY FOR NON-ENGLISH DEVICES TOO
PLEASE READ POST 2 IF YOU WANT TO TRY THE NEW PANEL MANAGER

  • Sony Ericsson ActiveX Deployment Flash Plug-in -> Download link
And hint the note in the 2nd post ..
Quote:
  • New R3A Panel Manager -> Tested OK, but must install ActiveX Deployment first !!! This is the english version but will install OK into any other language (not guaranteed to work)
My opinions: faster transitions, better animations, smooth, and best of all: YOUR LAST ACTIVE PANEL IS AUTO LOADED AFTER A SOFT RESET: DEFINITIVELY WORTH UPGRADING
BUGS: Since this new panel manager comes from an english ROM, I have tested it ON ENGLISH ROM ONLY. I have seen occasional freezes and the taskmanager "x" button disappears from some panels - INSTALL IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
  • Currently using:
XPERIA X1i
ROM: Touch-IT BR
(WinMo 6.5 Build 2345)
+ Co0kie's Home Tab v1.6

RA3 panel manger as well as Flash deployment are installed on our devices for sure. New media panel don't work without them. Any other ideas, what to do to stop it freeze?

This temporary workaround seems to work for me ValeryS.
Thanks.
I used to neatly close down videos before switching panels.
Switching in mid video goes flawlessly.

only problem that remains is when a call comes in while watching a video.
The phone freezes up and needs a soft reset.
