Which apk manager did you use? Also, if your ROM is based on touchwhiz, you will need to install both the framework-res and twframework-res sources.

If you're using apk manager you can pull those two from your phone and put them anywhere but lets put them in C:\[path to apk manager]\Apk_Manager_ICS\place-apk-here-for-modding

cd to that directory then:
Code:
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb pull /system/framework/twframework-res.apk
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if twframework-res.apk
when you run the Script.bat file in the Apk Manager folder, select option 22 to select the apk you want to decompile and then then select option 9. It should work. I've been using it without any issues since sean made this thread.

Hey Buddy,

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for.
I hope I'm able to successfully use this process.
I want to chage how the mms.apk looks, particularly the conversation list to black w/white text and the message window to have the editor box fully black and not a grainy almost black with a black background behind the bubbles. Mabye get rid of the gray around the editor too to black.

One question about your .png example.
You said to leave the 4 pixels and line. Are they suppose to be black or the same color as the rest of the background?

Okay, so I'm going to give this a go...

Hi there,
I'm trying to decompile a .9.png with the Wanam_Apk_Manager_ICS. I get these errorsa and the one beginning with W I have a lot of.

/place-apk-here-for-modding/signedMms.apk
/place-apk-here-for-modding/unsignedMms.apk
W: Could not decode attr value, using undecoded value instead: ns=android, name=theme, value=0x02070015

I'm guessing I don't have the progtam set up correctly, as if I still need to install something it's looking for. Any suggestions? I also don't quite understand the signed and unsigned thing. I'm not sure where to start on fixing this. I'm looking for a guide to set up the program, but can't find one. It seems the programs to edit .9.png files are kinda tough to use.

When I press 9 it says It says "Can't find framework resources for package." Maybe this is source of the problem. I have Framework installed...
Suggestions?

Err, yes. Its not device or ROM specific. Just make sure you install your framework-res.apk from your ROM with apktool and you're good to go.

guys any idea how to change the default appdata storage...
\data\data\com.google.android.apps.currents
to
sdcard\data\com.google.android.apps.currents

coz currents stores both cache and data to internal mem...which takes a whopping 100-150mb itself

can i change some vaules to make it store in the sdcard instead.....
