DONATE TO ME
I'm happy with the stock player too, although I don't listen to music on the phone that much. I did buy PowerAmp a couple of years ago, but haven't bothered to use it on the Note 2.
Here are a few more Android Media players to try, in case you feel the urge.

I've always used Poweramp because, as the other person said, my big problem with the stock player was the inability to choose folders.

BUT.....it looks like we can now!

The one thing I hate about the stock player is that it doesn't have a lock screen widget. So I'll continue to use Google music

Motorola MotoX

Previous phones
Samsung Galaxy S3 - Rolled over and broke the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE - Sold, too slow
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - stock (ROGERS ROM)
Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE - Screen smashed started peeling off
SE Xperia X10 - stopped charging the battery and when I'd put a new one it would drain it and shut-off
HTC Diamond - (started to die on me and battery would barely hold a charge).
HTC Touch (Elfin) - Screen broke (went all white).
