Ryu, i did nandriod backup when v4 yet to release. i realise that the filesize is so small. does it mean i cannot use restore? not so sure what does it mean by preload partition in v4.

In jellybean the system apps are stored in preload not system.

Default recovery backups only backup system and not preload therefore none of your system apps are backed up because the nandroid done on v3 doesn't backup preload

meaning its similar like doing factory reset?

Just did backup and restore using v4 ....working perfectly .
Phone :Samsung Galaxy S2 GTI9100G / SGW GTI8150

It BL Kernel v4 works only with Stock JB
