Default Using stock OTA updates on rooted + CWM recovery Nexus 4.

Here is one question that puzzels my mind as I have been reading many different oppinions

As Im a newbie on Nexus 4 and I still have a Stock 4.2.2 with root and CWM recovery. What do you think of updating official OTA with this ?

I managed to update by OTA from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 and CWM recovery 6.0.2.3 asked me to keep root in the end. Is it always like this, should I first flash stock recovery if I want to update by OTA ?

Should it be that only stock recovery accepts official OTA updates because they are signed for them ? My main worrie is to be bricked, heh.

Phew, what a shoot of questions :P

EDIT: I wont keep anynone responsible for giving me a bad advice

Read the requirements of receiving OTA here

[INFO] Nexus OTA Help-Desk

cwm has that keep root option as a feature. So that is why you managed to update just fine, and maintain root.

Nexus 4 CM10.1 RC1 + _m+ kernel (_motley's kernel continued)
HTC Desire Z/G2 | Rom: ILWT CM7 634 or Sense Rom: Virtuous Sense v2.0.0
G1 : ADS-Magpie (GB) or Froyo by Laszlo+ezterry froyo kernel

Is the n4 available in local shops in the US? Or is it just on the play store? And what about the official bumper?
Thanks

Or you can try scumdroids fix.

i got a fix lads

you need root, and terminal emulator. open terminal emulater and type these lines without the quotes:

type "su" and give permissions
type "mount -o rw,remount /system" enter
type "cd /vendor/firmware/keymaster" enter
type "chmod 0644 *" enter

done.

Hey guys i know this might sound stupid and greedy, but seeing as their is a white nexus 4 lurking around, and perhaps most likely 32GB, do you think there is anyway if one was to keep returning their device for RMA for instance, that they would end up giving me a white 32GB version (black 16GB) if i returned it with a fault after a few times? i mean has this happened with anyone who has a nexus 7 8GB, then RMA'D it and got like a 16GB version or 32GB version or what? Thanks for your answers!

Current ROM: Stock rooted (4.2.2) || Recovery: TWRP touch v.2.4.1.0 || Current Kernel: Matr1x kernel V7!

refer a few posts above for the OTA Help-Desk. There is a list of requirements for your phone to receive OTA.

Short answer, your bootloader state won't affect the OTA update.
