Is it time to sell your S2 & move on? Once S3 is updated to 4.2.1 officially, it just wouldn't stop my phone from working but that urge to have the latest and greatest will increase even more

Waiting for a good 1080p non nexus phone this year which would run AOSP android without any hiccups

I was considering buying a s4 but no exynos no amoled no me, so yea im sticking with my s2 for a while, and they will have to release it for us because our device is astonishinly still a highish mid range device, where as the s hit low end quickly therefore there was a lack of support.

Samsung released the Jelly Bean kernel source code for the GT-I9100.

What does that mean for us? Any significance?

Is it really that significant, since we will probably not be getting any new fw updates? Aren't the current dev kernels brilliant enough?

It's just the Linux kernel sources. It will help our kernel devs with features such as clock speed and voltage control, along with some stability improvements. Because the Linux kernel is licensed under the GNU GPL, Samsung is obliged to release the kernel sources for every public firmware release with a new kernel.

Also, I'm sure we'll continue to receive firmware updates for a while although probably not to newer Android versions.

Click for surprise!

No flashlight in quick toggles, no support of danish special chars (æ-ø-å) in T9 dialer search. Such a pity! This means I'm not going to use the new firmware. Plus, I get a lot better battery from JellyBam. Camera acts better in stock firmware though.

I'm also on the lookout for the next thing. I want the best possible CyanogenMod support so I'm leaning towards a Nexus 4 - or the next nexus. Still, the S2 goes for 400 euros in Denmark and it continunes to be a very powerful device. I'm having trouble justifying 500 euros for a Nexus 4 when the device I have is nearly the same price and I'm still not facing limitations on the hardware side.

Only thing I can't get my head around on the S2 is why on earth it doesn't have a notification LED. My old Wildfire S had a notification LED.

I guess I will get a new device when 4G is rolled out properly in my area. There's a few months to go.
