so i was on a flight and when i turned off airplane after the flight, the phone froze on a black screen and now it wont boot. cant get it to boot into revocery either, only odin mode.

Have you tried taking out the battery?

numerous times with no result. same thing. im gonna flash the new firmware in odin and take it from there

I hate it, but I use it since MMS works flawlessly with it (including over WiFi).
DEVICE ► SGS3 / Nexus 10
ROM ► Rootbox / Carbon

That exact same thing happened to me.. The phone went to a blackscreen and a couple of seconds later it turned off.. I didnt touch it and like 5 minutes later I connected the charger. Then came the charging animation when off . Only once that has happened to me. I tried airplane mode again and it didnt do it again. I was on stock kernel. But, every phone is different.
