I'm sorry to drag this back up from a few days ago, but has the volume issue with the music player been addressed at all? Where it skips to max volume after a new song starts or a notification comes in?

+1 and the volume controller on the headphones don't work..

Also one thing that bothers me :/ is the vibrate toggle on quicksettings. Why doesn't it change color to blue when turned on? sorry im a lil ***** but bothers me!!! haha

Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom 1.4 JB 4.2.2 [d2vzw] » Feb 24

Does anyone know why paranoid android would beat carbon ROM so badly in Antutu benchmark???

The top is from 2-21 carbon ROM and bottom is from 2-23 nightly paranoid android..

They are both linaro and both using Kt747 2-19 kernel with same settings.

Could it be that Paranoid android has optimizations for the snapdragon S4 krait CPU baked in? Does carbon not have it if PA does? I'm just puzzled.

Since I showed paul (molesarecoming) how to implement the dnapdragon s4 krait bionic/device mod I'd venture to guess the answer is no. (Yes we use them) I tryed a different bionic branch for this round as I saw it was scoring comparably to the branch I was using with krait...that is likely the culprit of ur lower score....

I'm genuinely curious if this is the direction Carbon is headed or just a mistake. The lack of deox isn't a deal breaker, but it's also suspicious.

What's suspicious about it? Guys odex is faster, Read up on it....Secondly nothing (worth doing) is broken by odex (for example tmobile themes, they work fine) when u install a new (deodexed) apk. MAKE sure to remove the old accompanying odex file....not really that complicated. Deodex was a big deal on factory ROMs and has evidently become a buzzword. It serves no advantage to the user (unless you wish to flash zip themes which we don't support but if you must.....) And there are plenty of deodex apk/computer tools to manage that task for you. I personally prefer faster boot times, slight smoother UI experience and higher benchmarks.... What are you talking about with suspicious? Lololol.

Just use Titanium to deodex! May or may not work, though. :silly:

I'm sure if they have the option it works...but again I'd suggest weighing the benefits of both before you go deodex crazy

What's in the update? Too manager updated me with 1.4. Website doesn't have changelog, OP doesn't have info.

Just would like to know what's new.

Thanks.

Is there a way to get the camera to sd card flashable zip working? That's definitely a deal breaker for me. Otherwise, wonderful rom built and tweaked by some awesome devs. Thanks!

how the hell did you get only 4k in antutu? i get 11k routinely, and 4200 in quadrant easily.

regarding the lag: i see it also this morning. i suspect it's due to the updated stock kernel. i would suggest flashing imo or KT for now.

I have no idea what I am looking for there. There are 1,000 things listed there and I'm not in the mood to search for an hour for something that can be easily copied/pasted here.

But thanks for the help.

Its not as easy as you think (copy/pasting)....github is arranged in order of changes most recently made....its quite easy to take a quick stroll through the frameworks base history (where almost all sysui mods occur) check your specific device for changes....but seriously please learn how to browse github...the dates are posted on the git and we released 1.3 earlier in the week....not that hard to sift through, and in the process you'll actually gain a deeper understanding... Seeing as we provide this service for free I would genuinely appreciate you drop the attitude....would you prefer it if we wrote a script that just automated the commit messages? I think that would butcher things...github ensures all credit is properly done and until we feel like we have an accurate and fair changelog we won't post it...were working on one now but for the time being use the more intuitive tool...

For the dark MMS theme, I copied the .apk, put it in "system', deleted the old one and the mms Odex and then set permissions. It was still forceclosing, so after a reboot I ran the .apk and it recognized it as an" update" to the app.

It's working perfectly now.

Are you in the mood to read through a couple of pages like everyone else has this morning?

    About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

    Download Carbon

All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.

Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

    Changelog

For a detailed changelog, check out the changes made each night here:

    Change Log

You can also find a changelog in Settings->Carbon->About Carbon

    Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!

    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

    4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.

    5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Hey everybody! So we decided to make an actual CarbonDev account and post useful information about the rom through this account instead of our personal accounts, you know, so we seem professional and whatnot. We are also in the process of changing the OP's to this account so they don't say 1.6 anymore lol. We have contacted xda and are waiting for that to get done, all in good time. We hope this change will make everything a bit easier for you, our precious users, but also for us in a logistical sense. We try to do everything possible to make Carbon user friendly and to meet the needs of the majority and hopefully this will help us maintain that goal. Anyways, back to work! Peace.
