Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom 1.4 JB 4.2.2 [d2spr] » Feb 24

Hmm... I'm getting occasional screen chatter while turning pages on apex launcher. Restarting the phone solve the problem. I haven't heard anyone mention a problem like this so I wonder if this is just me.

Other than what I mentioned I am loving this ROM so far. I never really liked AOSP like ROMs but this one I took a chance with even tho I see many people having small issues. However, not for me tho. everything seem to be solid so far other than the small hiccup mentioned above.

Said it earlier in here, its a fork off liquid, so basis similar, just being developed differently now, but runs better for me on my d2spr

I'm sure it'll come in time, lets all chill on the "why doesn't it have xxxxx", or "xxxxx isn't working that is an obviously thing that works on other roms" (no logcat). If something's missing, please hold for further development to settle a lil here. Of there's n issue, kindly say "I seem to be having issues with xxxxx, here is my logcat. Please and thank you Mr. Dev sir"

Keep up the testing guys! Please don't take ne rudeness from this. And mostly thank you Mr. Dev sir! Haha

Sorry buddy just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something, this is all somewhat new to me.

It seems as though my stock browser and stock messaging app is missing. Not sure if anything else isn't there though. Any ideas?

Did you do a clean install? Could be a bad download. Sometimes redownloading and doing a clean install can fix it

OK I somewhat take that back. Im an idiot. Stock browser is there and messaging app is kind of there. It doesnt show in my app drawer. If I go into settings and apps I can see the messaging app there, but have no way of opening it. I know there is a setting within the stock messaging app to auto retrieve mms, but I have no way of getting there.

This has happened to me too. My alarm did not go off this morning because I looked at my phone and it was a black screen with a white line through it. Almost like the TV off screen animation froze at the last possible second. Holding the power button for 10 seconds does reboot it though. It also happened several times last night and have also had a black screen when trying to wake up the device too soon after putting it to sleep.

+1

This kind of scare me as I rely on my alarm very much to get me up so I can work another hour to keep up with my sprint bill lol. However, I just flashed this ROM yesterday and woke up this morning with an alarm so it definitely worked with no problem for me.

Uncompressed MMS?

Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app

I noticed that MMS is compressed on AOSP roms. A lot of other people have issue sending and receiving MMS over 4G LTE.
Personally going through compressed MMS and forced to keep phone on 3G.

Not sure about CarbonRom so I'll let someone else chime in. Just seemed to be across the board.

Mobile Networks - Change from CDMA/EVDO/LTE to CDMA/EVDO. The one without 4G, don't choose automatic. Just CDMA/EVDO.
Reboot your phone then try to send or receive a picture message.

That worked for some with their phone set to 3G only. For some reason the 4G network or the AOSP roms don't like MMS on our phones.

What launcher are you using? I had to uninstall nova then reinstall it for apps in app drawer to refresh

Use Jorte in the play store for your calendar. It's free and customizable for screen widgets.

The 1.4 update has not been nearly as smooth as any of the previous versions of CarbonRom. Although it was mainly just an update for bug fixes, a couple new one's have slipped in.
Within the first 24 hours of having this 1.4 update, I have had to pull the battery 4 times. The first 3 times were due to the issue with the screen remaining completely black with the one row of white pixels in the middle. (As said earlier, like the "old TV screen shutoff") The other time it locked up was after making a phone call. The screen was dimmed very low, and appeared that I had not hung up yet. Everything was frozen, and could not even black the screen.

same problem :(

    About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

    Download Carbon

All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.

Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

    Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!

    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

    4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.

    5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

best thing you guys can do is use an alternative kernel for now. i recommend leankernel.

that said, we're working on another build that should resolve the issues us d2 folks are experiencing. to be honest we usually start working on the next build as the one we're releasing is still building.
    9
Why make the claim if it's not?
If you bought a vehicle that said turbo then looked under the hood and there was no turbo then it's not a turbo. When you look at code you can tell if it is "patched" with linaro but not truly linaro. I haven't seen the code for this but I'm gonna bet that it's patched like a leaky ship!

Question about the rom...... Does wifi tether encryption work yet? And why does browser occasionally crash?

No more of this Linaro crap! If it has some Linaro optimizations what is the big freaking deal?
If you build a Linaro kernel or ROM then YOU say FULL Linaro code/No patches!
I am sick of this starting up everywhere the word Linaro is used
None of you have a copyright on the word
You don't believe it? Don't use it!
If you want to discuss with the developer how to fully optimize it to Linaro then move to the developer's discussion area!
You make accusations and admit to not even verifying them? THAT is trolling!
Anymore of this crap will be met with infractions
    Thank you for your cooperation

    Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [d2spr] » Feb 6

Kenny, I respect you and we are familiar with each other from the OG Epic days, but everything I seen so far regarding the linaro debate been favor to the accusers. Great Offender did not start this argument, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't trolling either like many he want something to be prove to what it's said to be and not a derivative of it. BigwillyG, I think that's his name, made an accusation and provided proof for his accusation and had proof against those claiming the ROM is actually linaro, why was nothing done and the dev was favored? And another thing, how is the ROM built using Google's tool chain, but can be still called Linaro isn't that false advertisement?

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

Same to you Masaidjet. I am only going to say this once so everyone can see....XDA does not care if a ROM claims to simonize your car while you drive! It is not violating any forum rules. The users decide whether a ROM is good or not or live up to it's claims. The OP states Linaro optimizations...not fully built on Linaro. I left in the post as absurd as it was to make an accusation without even verifying. That is against the respect rule. ROMs are advertised as "flawless"yet users find bugs...should we lock those threads? Can anyone prove there are no Linaro tweaks in this at all? What I am saying is keep this bickering out of the development threads and let users report issues and get the help they need. Go to PMs, gtalk, Google +, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Joe Flacco's mom's bedroom....I don't care. Just keep it out of here. I have seen this in every Linaro titled thread and it ends here!
Thank you all for understanding and your cooperation.

We posted another build up on goo, newer than yesterday. This has updated blobs and was compiled properly in linaro. Yesterdays was done in gcc 4.7 accidentally.

Please note that the kernel is not yet linaro yet, but will be as we move to the carbon kernel.
