Hi all, some of you may have seen my utility over in the de-bricking thread. My goal at this point is to try and make lives easier for everyone I can.

So what I have done is created a script that can be used to handle a lot of common things people may want, and I will continue to add things people request that I think would be easy, and beneficial. I just wanted to make this situation easier for the average person.

You will see how the tool detects you at the default screen, and can refresh it by hitting 0 at any menu to have it refresh ADB/Fastboot and see what mode the kindle is in.

Currently the tool comes packaged with the drivers required to operate ADB and Fastboot.

Please note: If your device can't be seen in fastboot mode, please make sure to install the drivers packaged with this, as it will show up afterwards. You can use the install_drivers.bat with the device plugged in for this.

Usage should be straight forward for the tool. If you are having issues with something, this tool has a good chance of getting you back on track.

Rooting has been tested with the latest update (6.3.2) and it works 100%. Be sure to have your device booted up in normal mode before running the root.

Auto detect current bootmode.
Auto Detect ADB/Fastboot Online/Offline.
Auto download update.zip from Amazon.
Auto download and install TWRP Recovery.
Auto download and install COTR Recovery.
Auto download and install FFF Bootloader.
Manage current bootmodes.
Manage Read/Write.
Install GoogleApps/Market/GoLauncherEX.
Lock/Unlock the Wallpaper from being changed.
As of 3/16/2013:
Doesn't support CWM for now bad DL link and seems there is no updated, stable version.

Choose Amazon Firmware to update to

Hello.

I have a few questions.
Does matter what kind of USB cable I use? I have a Samsung one so I was wondering if I could use that. And to install Root itself you need the drivers right? Where do I get the drivers for 6.3.2? After it recognizes the kindle I just click the root option and... Kaboom right!!? Lol.

You need to run install_drivers.bat the run kfu and select root with your device connected in normal mode. The drivers should be universal with any ROM. Also, as long as the cable you are using is a micro-usb it should work

I use an HTC cable and it works.

Download the files and extract the zip its in the root of the zip... And yes the Yellow triangles are no more. They were from FFF 1.2>

New update...

I updated twice today:
v0.9.8 fixes a md5 sum mismatch bug when installing TWRP
v0.9.8+ Has a little bit more touched up code and now fully implements the Dual Boot feature

Right!

So for the dual boot, does this just set up the partitions, and then I can go install the two ROMs in recovery? Or does it also install two previously downloaded ROMs?

The dual boot installs the modified boot loader and resizes the partitions. Then you need to flash altrom-format-all.zip. When I update next I'll put more info in the readme

OK. I'd like to dual boot Jelly bean and a stock rooted image (Modaco maybe), so next time I am free, perhaps I'll use your tool to tackle that task.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I tried everything in the book (and a few things not listed) to get the last version to work with my KF, and never had any luck. 0.9.8+ works like magic. Great job!

I didn't even attempt dual booting because it looked like such a pain.
Thanks for making an addition to format for dual booting!
Also since I know it will be asked, I just want to make sure this works with 6.3.2 since 9.6 kfu didn't (I don't think).

okay guys, i have a question.

my adb status is online but my boot status is unknown. i probably dont have the drivers installed . and when i try to run the install drivers it says that the some path is not specified. So how would i download the drivers?

oh and the path that it cant find is \drivers\dpinst64.exe .

any suggestions?
