Sorry if this has been asked but I've tried to search google for an answer already.
I unlocked and rooted my phone, does this mean it is unlocked to use on another carrier? Thanks in advance

There is two different meanings of unlocking the device. What I show people how to do is unlock the boot loader. This allows to to flash custom recovery and kernels to the device. The other unlock is a Sim unlock this is what make the device work on another carrier.

Question

o.k.

I followed the instructions in the root, unlock bootloader, etc video and everything worked perfectly.

Then I updated CWM recovery through ROM Manager.

Now when I try to boot to Recovery, I get the 'you have software installed that Verizon doesn't like' message. Only happens when I boot to recovery, the normal bootup works fine.

Do I need to install the VRALEC bootchain and then re-install recovery again?

Don't use ROM manager to install recovery that's the problem. Watch my recovery install video but install cwm instead of twrp

How do I tell it to use cwm instead of twrp?

I have the .img file downloaded.

Added video to OP please check it out.

That worked!!

Much thanks.

Is there a way to use Goo Manager to install a CWM .img file?

Is there any particular reason you say to install cwm instead of twrp? I am rooting the phone for a friend and he just took the mf1 update...is there a root method that is known to work with the new update

Quick question OP...

My S3 was bought new from VZW and was flashed to PagePlus. I want to make sure that your rooting and adding recovery and ROMs won't somehow revert or screw up the settings from the flash. thx

I am trying to follow your rooting instructions which are straightforward but when I plug in the phone in my PC I hear it chime but it doesn't show up as a USB MSD. Drivers are installed... I am still on stock OS just like in your video. Any idea why it's not coming up or how to fix it?

Also, I have the Odin program. But what's the other rooted stock 4.1.2 no wipe? Where can I get it?
