Default [Q] Possible to root without unlocking bootloader with 4.4 krt16s?

Simple question but I can't seem to find the solution:

I have a 2013 wifi Nexus 7 with 4.4 krt16s. Is it possible to just root the device without unlocking the bootloader?

I had an old android phone and I only rooted it with a 1 click process and that was enought for me but all instructions I see for nexus 7 2013 root always start with unlocking the bootloader.

No there isn't, because there's no point in devs looking for an exploit to do that when you can unlock. But you can unlock, root, then relock your bootloader if you want.
