Question [Q] How do I go from 4.3 JellyBean to 4.4 KitKat without losing data?

Hi All,

I currently have installed on my M7_UL a stock 4.3 Rom:

Software info:
HTC update build: 3.62.401.1
Android Jelly Bean 4.3 (JSS15J)
HTC Sense 5.5
Release status: release-keys
Kernel: 3.4.10

In addition, I have CWM Recovery installed, MID of PN0713000, rooted with SuperSU, S-Off, and SuperCID (11111111) as well.

As such, I don't get OTA updates.

What ZIP do I need to flash in CWM Recovery to update to 4.4 without losing data/applications? I assume I would need to wipe cache, wipe dalvik, and then flash a 4.4 ZIP right?

I don't believe you can wipe without losing apps. That's why you use titanium backup. Then just reinstall apps through that.

That doesn't sound right... When I had my Galaxy S3, and I was using CyanogenMod, all I had to do for upgrades was a "dirty flash".

It meant I just needed to wipe cache & dalvik (but not system), and simply flash the new nightly zip on top.

I guess I'm asking to the general xda populace, is dirty flashing a stock 4.4 zip over an existing 4.3 stock rom ok?
