Not sure if a video has been posted before, but here you go:

I have since replaced the nexus in the video.. The new one is running 4.4 but still experiencing the same issue.

I had similar problems, went through warranty - the replacement device they sent me is flawless.

And i thought my one is unusable.
But in fact its not even close to your problems lol.

By the way i found that if you put all ten finers on the screen and make them touch the highest and lowest part of screen at same time, the screen will automatically turn off as on the 2nd video.
And in the logcat it says that it was turned off by user, so its definitely hardware problem

Here's mine when I was still on 4.3. It's not as bad now after I let ASUS take a look at it but it's still no where near perfect:
