Hi,

I was thinking of replacing the camera on my Galaxy S i9000 because it is ... lets say just bad ;). Is it maybe possible to replace the original camera from the i9000 with any other smartephone camera, maybe the one from the S2 or something similar ? Would this work from a software side ? Are the connecters interchangable ? Somebody with experience can tell me if this would work remotely in any way ?

There just isn't another camera that has the same connections to be an easy swap, then there's camera firmware, and getting the phone to speak to a camera not made for it.

It would be possible for the kind of guy who actually designs the electronics of these phones, not a job for you or I.

Basically, if you want a better camera then you have to buy a better phone. A shame I know because the i9000 is a great little phone.

I9000 compatible with I9001?

Hi. I have a different question. I want to replace my mother's I9001 camera lens with a new one because it's not working properly.

But searching the web I found that the I9000 camera replace is cheaper and more common than the I9001's. So, will the I9000 camera be compatible with my I9001? For the pictures I saw they are slightly different, but some sites sell them as for i9000/i9001.

In my hunt for a better camera I just replaced my camera lens with a new one from ebay ( about 5 €) and I'm very happy with the results.
I think it's clear wich picture is from before and which one from after the swap :)
