Default [Q] Looking for recovery image compatible with UK WiFi Xoom

I have a UK model Xoom, WiFi only. A while back I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the US system image on it.

I am trying to get a recovery image installed on this, but literally every recovery image I try seems to be incompatible. When booting into recovery I get the "!" in a triangle in the Android's belly image.

Flashing a recovery ROM is pretty simple stuff. Is there something I should know about the WiFi Xoom from the UK? Are the standard recovery images not compatible? Is there something stupid and simple I might have overlooked?

The issue will be the fact that you're on stock android and trying to boot a custom recovery image. You must either be rooted or have a custom ROM otherwise the system will wipe over the custom recovery and put back the system recovery, this is why you are getting the android with the exclamation mark in it.

You can also, once flashed a recovery image, is to boot immediately into recovery on the first boot after flashing the recovery image, thus not giving a chance for the system to overwrite the recovery

That makes a lot of sense. I guess in the past I've always rooted my devices a matter of course; I never considered that you had to root before installing a custom recovery.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Actually the problem there are two files which flash the stock recovery back. To remove them you need to root your device.

To use the custom recovery follow the idea of matt4321, just boot it right after flashing .

Good luck,
