Default [Q] Cause for restrictions on posting?

Just curious as to how long account restrictions are in place here at XDA? I've been a member of many forums over the years (retired moderator at Overclock.net) and frankly puzzled as I have never seen these kind of restrictions on another site.

Not allowed to post external links (so no photobucket, no links to accessories).

Can only post every 5 minutes? Again a real head scratcher.

Have to type in an authentication code every time I post?

Just wondering if XDA is actively discouraging new members from joining.

I have to say great content on the site but very frustrating to try and participate.

Just something to prevent people joining solely to spam. Goes away after a few dozen posts.

Forum Rules

Restrictions are in place to give people an opportunity to read, search, and learn to navigate their way around the site, as well as to help curb all of the spam that is constantly trying to force it's way in.

Also, I moved your thread to the Q&A section...
