Default Did I screw up with root

I'm a deb user. 4.4 kk. I unlocked and rooted using wug tool. I installed twrp. But when I try to boot into recovery or bootloader, I get dead droid with exclamation. I just hold the power button and get back to normal boot. Did I do something wrong in the process? It does secure boot enabled.

I have the notification for 4.4.2 update and I assume if I take it I will lose root but it's easy enough to get it back.

You could just use the wugfresh's toolkit to get it root working again. Or you can flash the supersu zip in twrp.
