Default Cannot update my fire HD 8.9 from cm-10.1

Greetings,

I recently installed cm-10.1-20130812-UNOFFICIAL-jem.zip following the process on rootkindlejunky. It seems to work fine on my Fire HD 8.9, however the CyanogenMod update via "Settings > About" doesn't work, it just hangs.

Before going right to CM11 I tried installing cm-10.1.3-RC2-otter2.zip from cyanagenmod.com using the same process as defined on rootkindlejunky– no luck, neither did sideloading. Anyone know a way around this?

I'm not super technical but I can follow instructions well

Please assist

Stop just flashing anything. You're flashing otter which is not for your Kindle. You're going to hard brick your tablet. Anything you flash must be for jem which is the 8.9 KFHD 2012. You are using the 2012 version, right? Non lte version? Also you are posting in the 7" forum. I can still help you. Also, don't update from within the tablet. That's just for amazon firmware. you update by downloading the proper zip and Gapps and then you boot into TWRP.

After booting into TWRP you first malke a full backup. This is important.
Then hit the install button and verify you have the zip and gapps on your SD internal card.
Now "swipe" to a factory reset.
Now go to install again and select the ROM zip.
Now select the Gapps zip.
Now flash
Now wipe only Dalvic and CACHE
Now reboot into system and let the ROM cook for a few minutes
Profit

Lets bump you up to 4.3 JB from 4.2 JB. 4.3 ROMs are pretty stable now. You need to update your TWRP to 2.6.3.1 as well.

A) The updated TWRP for your Kindle can be found at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2218802 This is very important and should be done first.
B) Download the ROM zip from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2388352 Use the crackflasher mirror.
C) The JB Gapps can be found at the same link the ROM zip "B."

Note: If you are using a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 2012 not lte Kindle this is for you. If not, then you need different files.

It already is but it's still a very early build. If you want real stable and everything working well, I would wait a couple weeks or so.

It's already available. You can download it here.Again, all features are not yet available, but it's a very good ROM.

EDIT- Hashcode just released a refresh of CM 11.0 for both KFHD 7" and 8.9"(2012). I tried it out on my 7" and I have to say,a MASSIVE improvement. Lots of more customization features, landscape "flip-flop" fixed,etc...You can download it here.
2nd EDIT-3rd refresh uploaded and ready to use. More features like expandable pattern lock. Can be found in the same directory of goo.im as the others.
