Default How to STOP phone from updating software

Is there a way to do it? My phone automatically downloaded the software and asked me to install. I cancel of course, but phone ask when can it ask me again. I have to pick a time, cannot cancel or anything. so I pick 5pm tomorrow. Will this install at that time? Please help me stop the software update.

I'm not rooted, do I need to be? Is there anyway to do it without being rooted?

I don't believe so. You need root to rename System services or uninstall them, especially a service to stop polling for OTA. What you need to do is rename "sdm 1.0", which is a System app, to "sdm 1.0.bak" but I'm almost positive this wouldn't last through a reboot for you since you're stock. Try it and see but it should not work.

It'll install automatically if you keep deferring it and miss it once. Each OTA we've received has had that "feature" btw. Rooting and doing what I outlined in my last post is the long term solution.
