Default Sprint LG G2 Root, Loki and Recovery Question

So Im thinking about rooting my phone now cause I have a little spare time, but I see in the sprint section there are a few root methods and a few different recoveries. Is there any difference between the root methods? Do any of them cause problems ( i remember at one point some were having bootloops) and what about the recoveries? Theres TeamWin and then Phils Touch. Ive done all this on other phones but this is my first LG and not sure whats working best at the moment.

Also can someone explain what exactly being "Loki'd" involves? What is that accomplishing and is it needed?

Yup, I would like some clarification about loki as well.

To my understanding, what loki does is make the locked bootloader think that it is the stock kernel that you are running. Allowing you to flash custom roms and custom kernels. Loki allows for the installing of custom firmware even with a locked bootloader.
