I got a second hand HOX 3 weeks ago. First thing I did... root it.
Awesome improvement.

On stock kernel with ViperX i got very bad battery life, after flashing (allready unlocked, rooted....) Alex-V kernel my battery life was doubled so it's worth, and you have in general section how to do all of that. Cheers.

well after the official update, i got a horrible battery life too so i changed my rom. Paranoid Android ROM was giving me the best battery life (~2days). After that i restored a stock backup (found it somewhere in the general thread) and the battery life was surprisingly greater than my own stock ROM. (~1.5days).
So, the moral of the story, try a different rom and kernel, set your minimum clock frequency to 51MHz and the maximum to 1300MHz with Ondemand and sio or row. :P
