Default [Q] How to Root i9000 Gingerbread.xwjwb

Hello...

I need some help to root my i9000 Gengerbread.xwjwb.

I have search through the website and still unclear on which kernel do I have to use to root the phone.

I am very new in this so any help would be really appreciated....

Can I use JVZ or JVU or JW4 kernel to root it?

Thanks....

Use the latest semaphore Gingerbread kernel from here and you can follow this guide, if it only root that you need you can even use the framaroot app that will do it without flashing.

THanks for the link and I have rooted my phone. But, when I go to Semaphore, it says "This application only works with superuser access". I tried to install super user or ClockworkMod to backup my Rom but none of them working.

How should I backup my data?

Thanks

I downloaded the latest Semaphone kernel from the link above with Odin.

And I tried to open the Semaphone icon in my phone, that's where it says "the application only works with superuser access".

However, I tried to backup the data using 3 button method and it works. Does that means that I don't have to install CWM or superuser as it's already there?

Thanks a lot for your patience....

Did you flash the semaphore kernel with Odin3? If you flashed the semaphore krenel, you will have root as well as CWM, that where you use the combo keys to do backups etc you can use the semaphore manager app from play store after you have flashed the semaphore kernel.
