UMTS/3G in TELCEL MEXICO

I have been going through a lot of the forums here at XDA and I realize this is mainly an HTC forum, but I would like to ask a question. I own a Sony Xperia X1 using WM6.1 I have the the monthly service with Telcel which allows me 200 minutes of talk time and unlimited 3G service. Well I know my phone is compatible with the 3G networks here as they sell it here also, but at a huge price difference at which I received mine on Ebay. Also, I know the phone I use is sold from Sony unblocked. As they wanted to make sure all carriers could support this phone.

Now that you have the info on what I am using and my service, I was wondering why am I stuck on the EDGE network in Mexicali. I have spoken to Telcel Customer support many times and they do try to help, but alas I am always stuck on EDGE. Telcel has sworn to me that my city is fully covered in 3G service. So I was wondering if I am doing something wrong.

My phone was originally purchased in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) I did a hard reset when I received it, and it automatically recognized the Telcel chip and setup the network configurations for me automatically. The phone functions flawlessly but I am always stuck on the EDGE network and it is very slow, my service does have the 3G unlimited, but for some reason it is not working. Any and all advice is always welcomed and I shall try out many of your ideas and be faithful in responding back with updates.

He estado pasando por muchos de los foros de aquí en XDA y me doy cuenta de esto es principalmente un foro de HTC, pero me gustaría hacer una pregunta. Tengo un Sony Xperia X1 usando WM6.1 tengo el servicio mensual con Telcel que me permite 200 minutos de tiempo de conversación y de servicios 3G ilimitado. Bueno, yo sé que mi teléfono es compatible con las redes 3G aquí como lo venden aquí también, pero con una diferencia de precio enorme en la que he recibido de minas en Ebay. Además, sé que el teléfono que utilizo es vendido de Sony desbloqueado. Ya que quería asegurarse de que todas las compañías aéreas podrían apoyar este teléfono.

Ahora que usted tiene la información sobre lo que estoy usando y mi servicio, me preguntaba ¿por qué estoy atrapado en la red EDGE en Mexicali. He hablado con atención al cliente de Telcel muchas veces y que tratan de ayudar, pero por desgracia siempre estoy pegado en el borde. Telcel me ha jurado que mi ciudad está totalmente cubierto en el servicio 3G. Así que me preguntaba si estoy haciendo algo mal.

Mi teléfono se compró originalmente en los EAU (Emiratos Árabes Unidos) hice un hard reset cuando lo recibí, y automáticamente reconoce el chip de Telcel y la configuración de las configuraciones de red para mi de forma automática. Las funciones del teléfono sin problemas, pero siempre estoy atrapado en la red EDGE, y es muy lento, mi servicio tiene el 3G ilimitado, pero por alguna razón no está funcionando. Cualquier y todos los consejos siempre es bienvenida y voy a probar a muchos fieles de sus ideas y estar en responder de nuevo con las actualizaciones.

Nice to see more Mexicans around!

When you buy a device in Europe or Asia or on this case middle east the hardware comes to work with 3G of that regions.
I have a Universal and a Touch Pro 2 , both buyed in Europe so they won´t work in México with 3G as bands are totally different, even if I flash another ROM, so perhaps that is your case.

Anyway have a look on the xperia wiki (yes xperia 1 was build by HTC!)

Thanks Orb for the Xperia Wiki. I will definitely troll through that this weekend to see if I can figure a way to get this working down here in Mexico.

I was looking at my ROM info on my phone at it says it actually is from the UK. So maybe I can find a ROM from the US, flash it and see what happens. If all else fails I can also use a ROM from Mexico. But again you may be right, as always though, I will read, read, read and test to see if we can get it to work.

Even if you find a UK, USA or Mexican ROM you´ll never connect to 3G, as I said it´s a hardware related stuff so no matter what ROM you install

Well, looks like I will keep this another year then since I do have edge at least. Then afterwords back to Ebay it goes and I will purchase something more current. But thanks again for the wiki I have been trolling through it and it choked full of good reads.
