Default [Q] Is it worth upgrading to 4.4?

Hi,

My wife's GTN7000 is on 4.1.2 stock, but its a bit sluggish now. Though she has a lot of apps on it :0...

Wondering would she benefit from upgrading to 4.4? In terms of performance mainly.

It sounds like its pretty stable, is there any reason I shouldn't upgrade it? If its buggy or she loses any functionality I'll get skinned....

I presume the latest OmniROM is the one to go with, that right?

Thanks loads in advance

Well, just my opinion, customized ROMs are not for house wives.

Default It depends ...

I've using OMNI since last Nov.as my daily driver and already enjoying it. Better speed more smooth.
But,
Go check the list of known bugs and issues of OMNI ROM in this thread and see if your wife will be able to deal with them on a daily basis.

And I can add:
USB storage doesn't work correctly till now.
Music player crashes on few nightlies.
Camera performance was better on the stock firmware.
Some battery draining issues from time to time.

Remember Nightlies are experimental builds.

maybe, depends on your wife.
Generally, i advise, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
On the other hand, if she is thinking about a new phone/ not happy with the note as it is, try omni.
Xperia Play r800i
Xperia Mini u20i
Galaxy Note n7000
Nvidia Shield

Try SlimSaber Rom from 'fusionjack'....
Awesome performance more than omni....

I've stayed away from everything, post 4.1.2 on my GT-N7000 for the simple fact that for MY
usage, it is rock stable. Camera, bluetooth are the #1 things, aside from the phone that I use
daily. I've seen a few roms, but each of them have issues with either camera, usb, SD card, or
bluetooth. For my usage, the 4.4 update didn't bring anything to the table that I would find as
a benefit.
Until I get a new device, for my pattern of use, I'm sticking with 4.1.2..... as always, your mileage
may vary.

I just update from 4.2 to 4.4.. My opinion is better update to 4.2 first since it is more stable than 4.4..
