you get 2440MB (2.38gb) because by the time your phone turns on... it is already using RAM but the actual RAM is 3GB -_-
Same with the internal memory, it says 32gb.. but the usable memory is not exactly 32gb..

Have a read around xda, check out Universal Root De La Vega and CF-AutoRoot -- which method you choose depends largely on

1) Your firmware
2) How you want to deal with KNOX - trip KNOX you have no warranty, keep KNOX and your warranty is preserved.
3) If you don't know what rooting is, don't do it
4) Do you need root? - like really need it?
5) Check your firmware using *#1234# (a common post..)
6) Good luck.
// Nexus 5 (D821) // Liquid // UBER //
// Note 3 (SM-N9005) // AOSP ROM of variety // Lean or temasek's Kernel // - Dumped. No more Samsung

There's 2.38GB available; the remaining .62 is reserved and can't be accessed.

Remove bloatware, exchange Touchwiz for Apex or Nova. Even without root that brings it down to only 6-800MB in use instead of the usual 1.2GB. (Touchwiz uses 600MB, Apex and Nova about 40.)

If you Root there's even more bloatware to kill. I didnt and I have 610MB in use, even with Tapatalk and N7player running.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

The simplest solutions are often the cleverest. They are also usually wrong.

I wonder if some or maybe even most of that memory is not used for graphics? typical graphic card on the desktop would have anywhere from 128MB-512 MB or even 1GB of dedicated memory and I think my laptop reserves 256MB for graphics from the get go, but it can increase it if required.
