Unhappy [Q] [Help] SGN Unbricking Assistance, Please?

Dear XDAsters,

Having successfully solved a boot loop issue in mid-December on my own, by following wise advice from XDA Recognized Contributor dr.ketan [1], I recently felt emboldened to try exploring custom ROMs for my SGN GT-N7000 – only to prove the wisdom of another clever fellow:

Quote:
"They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance."
~ Terry Pratchett

Long story short, things went from bad to worse. Now my SGN is completely unresponsive – after battery removal-&-reinsertion, the screen remains black and blank in all these circumstances:
• being plugged in to the mains charger
• being switched on with the power button
• launch recovery at startup – volume up + home + power
• launch download mode at startup – volume down + home + power

I know it’s all my own silly fault, but if there are any noble souls here at XDA who could help me out of this PIT in to which I have dug myself (bad pun intended), I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in anticipation,

Dalinian

Resources available at my end:
• net-connected MacBook Pro, dual booting to OS X 10.9.1 and Windows 7
• Heimdall under OS X
• Odin under Win7
• cooperative optimism

Try a jig. It may help put the phone to DL mode.

My first thought, born of a life-long love of surrealism, was to seek out some trad Irish jig tunes, such as...

• Traditional Irish Jig Medley: Geese In The Bog / The Wind That Shakes The Barley
– music, 3:29 » http://youtu.be/VL2XC-RyL7Y

...then put my SGN on the floor, and carefully dance a wee jig or two over it.

But thankfully the rational side of my psyche piped up, and I consequently discovered this most useful thread:

• [REF] USB Jig FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) [4/4/2012] ICS bootloader added
» http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1402286

...followed by finding this item:

• Download Repair Reset usb jig unbrick dongle for Samsung Galaxy S NEW S2 i9100 i9100G N7000 also ICS 4.0.3 with easy video guide
» http://www.amazon.co.uk/Download-Rep...d_sim_sbs_ce_4

Being as how it's inexpensive, and even name checks our N7000, I'll order one and see if you're right about it getting my SGN into download mode again.

Good luck! In the waiting time may also check out another option name jtag riffbox. More advanced and costly.

Thanks again, forest1971.

In independent research, I’ve both seen videos of how the jtag riffbox works in outline, and found mail-in repair service companies in the UK who offer unbricking services that include using that kit. If it comes to it, I think I’d prefer to pay experts to use that method, rather than to buy my own jtag riffbox.

My educated guess is that the delivery time on the USB jig (3-18 days) indicates a mailing from China. Meanwhile, I’m only waiting on Samsung’s tablet product announcements at CES next week before (most likely) ordering a SGN 10.1 2014 LTE and a Three UK network microSIM – so I may have a 10.1 inch “phone” before my original SGN 5.3 inch is resurrected, which suggests to me a high tech update to one of Dom Joly’s best hidden camera show gags:
