USB not working on Windows?

It used to work for my other PC with the USB mode (fastboot never worked on windows 8, only the hard drive or adb worked), but now i cant even transfer files (cable works fine, tested with other phones).

Attached are screenshots of what i see. It comes under the Android USB Devices but nothing is shown. when i right click the "HTC MTP DEVICE" i get the error shown in the second screenshot.

Weirdly, adb detects the phone still.

Unplug the phone from the PC. Uninstall and then reinstall HTC Sync. Plug in phone. Profit.
