When I get to the step where I enter recovery mode, factory reset and install monx, do I factory reset from the settings > backup reset menu? And how exactly do I install the zipped monx rom in the external sd card? And does the zip need to be in root of the card?

Why wouldn't you post this in the monx thread rather then create a new one?

Copy the zip to the root of the SD, boot into recovery, select the rom in sd, flash from sd.
