Default 4.3 wants to encrypt ext SD card

Just wondering if there is a way to prevent 4.3 from encrypting the ext SD card? Every time I reboot, I get a message that full encryption of the SD card (if not encrypted, can't use it) will be performed and if I proceed, then my un-lock options are restricted to pin or password. Is this a security feature or fault of 4.3? Can I by-pass and still use SD

Sounds like a Knox feature..
Is Knox present and active on the device ?
Are you rooted ?

More info needed about the device state....g
