Default Moto G a bit laggy?

I have a Moto G with 4.4 kitkat and it seems a bit choppy here and there..especially on the homescreen and opening the apps draw. I got the phone like 3 days ago

My phone is definitely a bit more laggy after the update. it's not slow by any means, it's just that sometimes are noticeable framedrops here and there (mostly on the homescreen (both with launcher3 and nova) and the status bar, etc. (yes, i did wipe after the ota).
it's not too bad, but 4.3 seemed buttery smooth in comparison. do you guys think motorola might release an updated build in the future?
