The phone also seems to be having random restarts too. Is there any chance flashing firmware will cure this too?

A reflash wil not fix this! Giving the phone a good tap on the back will trigger a reset!
This phones gotta go back for repair!

Not really. They can keep phone's body but change to anorher mainboard. This happens to me last time when I bring my HTC phone to the warranty service

They asked if i had the same phone back, not if the main board has been changed :P
It's got the same scratch, the same IMEI, so to me that's getting the same phone back.

So the EFS partition is used for what purpose? If the IMEI is already hard-coded in the hardware?

Finally got it back from repair the second time. The phone isnt faulty thankfully, but they have still put the Three firmware on it!
Absoulutely atrocious from Samsung. This will be the last Samsung phone I buy.

The Note was great with the MJ1 software. But now I cant root it without tripping Knox..... its not so hot.
