Hi everybody,

I'm going to visit USA soon. I was expecting prices of smartphones would be much lower there. But as it turns out unlocked ones has almost same price as here.

So I thought maybe I can buy a contracted-locked Note 3 which is much cheaper, then unlock it by flashing a custom rom, modem & kernel. If that part is illegal to ask or talk about here, just consider it not mentioned.

Thanks,

If you decide to do it go with a T Mobile one the ATT has a locked bootloader so no flashing custom kernels.

It turns out they charge monthly, and you end up paying the same price.
