To those of you who don't bother to look up this information or even ask around xda.

THE HTC FIRST IS DISCONTINUED. NO ANDROID SOFTWARE UPDATES WILL EVER BE AVAILABLE FROM ATT OR HTC. WE ARE STUCK ON 4.1 JELLY BEAN FOR LIFE UNLESS WE GET CM. DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW SLOW DEVELOPMENT IS GOING BECAUSE IT IS VERY HARD FOR ONE PERSON TO DO IT WHILE LIVING A LIFE. TRUST MY PERSONAL XP

Thank you.

PS: Gosh, please do research on the phone you are buying and how android even works before buying one.

Also.
Apps within the 4.1 - 4.3 range are inter compatible so you can run 4.3 or even 4.4 "aosp apps" like clock camera and keyboard on android 4.1.

ROM - a file containing software files that you either receive as an update or flash through recovery to replace your your existing os.
Recovery - a system you boot into to, to be able to flash files and manage your phone at a superior root level (aka god mode) be careful with it.
Flash - install through recovery
Root - (to root - to gain superior access and make you overlord over the device's /system and /boot partition) Root - having root access
AOSP - Android Open Source Project (also refers to a STOCK non customized or non modded ROM or Nexus port)
Port - (to port - to port a rom means to copy it from another device because it is easier that way than building it from scratch, aka copying and slightly modifying to make it work on a device) A port - a rom that has been copied from another device

This is about all you might need but if you need any more terms, here is the ultimate android dictionary http://www.androidcentral.com/dictionary
