Default [Q] Unlocked Bootloader

Just a random thought, but why has the G2 not gotten an unlocked bootloader or S-Off yet. This seems like quite the popular device with pretty decent support, so what gives? Is S-Off even a concern on this phone like it was on my HTC Rezound??

Well it's not that it isn't as important, but it is harder than ye ole days of S-off/unlocked bootloaders. Depending on the G2 variant there are differing solutions to accomplish similar to what you are thinking of.

Not currently an issue - but may well be with future Android versions on this phone, All those folk panting for (generally disappointing) updates might well repent in time...

S-off is on for htc... But anyway as already stated atm the bootloader is not a problem.
