So I am having some memory issues with my X1 (using 28002). I have about 95mb free RAM at boot which drops to about 42 after some use. I am trying to determine if it is a recmod problem. This is my memory map. From what I understand this is good? Zero modules in slot 0. Does 47 MB free mean that once all modules are loaded into memory this is all that will be left? That does not sound good to me. Good X1 ROMs have ~130mb free at boot staying above 100 with use. Do you think this is a recmod issue or some other problem that I have?

You have slot 60 free, too (plus about 3 MB in slot 61). You should start converting .dlls and .exes to modules. It's hard to fill it up; I've got maybe 90 modules and 10 MB of memory in slot 0. (Whatever you do, don't go on a rec-modding rampage.) I'm not sure what the 47 MB free means, but I don't think that it refers to your program memory. Maybe someone else knows. I have a similar #, and I have ~135 MB free at startup and 110-115 after using it a while.

(If I were gonna guess, I'd say that the 47 MB is a critical level or something where the rom won't build anymore. You have 32+3 free in 0 and 61, plus maybe 12 to play with in 1. If the free VM drops below 20 MB in slot 1, then maybe the rom won't build. It would be nearly impossible to do this with a native kernel, imo.)

If you're using 28002, the 3 sys folders named xxxfiles (osfiles, etc) have .dll's that can be converted (they were modules in 23081). You can convert all of the MSVC dll's and the .exe to modules. I've found it works a lot better for me that way. I converted everything in the office folder to modules (except a couple xxxres.dll's-I've had issues doing that before, so left them alone). Pocket xcel boots up a lot quicker now. Basically everything in my EXT's are now modules-it's worked well with just a few exceptions (folder icon library was killed by it, and a few other icon type resources don't work). Just don't convert rsaenh.dll to a module-the rom won't boot.
