Upgraded to 4.3. Its showed the MK2 band version. Then successfully rooted.
Later ran GOOMANAGER recovery app which crashed the whole thing to error message saying.
system software unauthorised by AT&T found. Ran the Kies later.
The status shows as "firmware upgrade encountered an issue, Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
Tried in Kies emergency recovery again and it fails and says. contact samsung customer service.

Tried Odin with Stock MDL but fails as below.

Odin message says :

<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/006> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/006> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/006>
<ID:0/006> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

You can't have custom recovery on our phone past MDL. Using goomanager set your knox flag, and you can't change that back as of yet. You also can't ODIN back to any previous version. You need to read more before trying anything else because all this information is around here. You have to follow the MJ6-MJ9 instructions to recover that has been linked many times in help threads and others.

Motochopper has been confirmed not working on any firmware past MDL. You can't run Gummy. The loki exploit to let us run custom kernels was patched. Do more reading before you brick again, and check out the General section for a nice list of what you can do on MK2/with Safestrap.

Thanks. That's what I have been doing. I am just tired of touchwiz. I like the raw android better, like my Nexus 10.

If you want something that looks more like AOSP (raw android) then you can flash version 3.6 of Foxhound ROM from the international S4. I'm running it on stock and it's very nice. I chose the essential option in the AROMA installer but the full install might work also.
