Can anyone confirm whether or not the S pen still acts as a standard stylus when using a custom ROM?

Yes, it still works. At least most of the ROM's I've tried.

As long as you're using a TW Rom. CM Roms don't typical employ the S Pen.

I'm currently using CyanogenMod and it works perfectly. It's still pressure sensitive and still works on the capacitive buttons. You won't get certain touchwiz enhancements but you probably know that.

If you looking for the S-Pen features, such as an app popping up and so forth, try this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2611415

How stable is it? Any camera bugs are other big bugs?

It's really stable. No random reboots, doesn't heat up, and great battery life. The stock camera isn't the greatest, but I use Nubia camera. Nfc also doesn't work yet.
