Hey guys,
my HTC One X just died about a day ago. Since the insurance also just ran out I need a new phone.

After some googling, researching and calculating I only got two phones left I consider to buy.
On the one hand the HTC One and on the other hand the Xperia Z1. (Nexus Devices sadly aren't an option for me )

Since the look and feel of the Z1 is in my opinion superior to the HTC Ones this point goes to the Z1.
In my country (and maybe in other coutries too) the HTC One is the cheaper one so this point goes to the HTC One.
Since it's now a draw I need to find some help and information to the "custom-rom-abilities" of the two devices.

So what are your experiences with the HTC One?
Is the "custom-rom-handling and stuff" easy ? (On my HOX it was easy as pie^^)
And how is the support? Do the big custom roms officially support the HTC One? (Like CM, AOSPA, PAC, Slim ....)
Is everything working with custom roms or are there any big problems?

Maybe you have some more informations on the devices you could tell me.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings .K'

(If you stalk my profile you'll that I posted a nearly identical thread on the Z1 forum. Hope it's ok for the mods. )

if you were on HOX S-ON, it was a hassle to flash ROMs & kernel via hboot USB
but on HTC One while on S-ON you can flash them easily via recovery
supports is awesome and everything works on custom ROMs
IMO AOSP ROMs lacks variety

Thanks for your fast reply.

My HOX was S-ON and it was still pretty easy to flash ROMs & kernel.
The terminal commands were pretty easy and I don't think there was much you could mess up.
But if the recovery can flash kernel even with S-ON its nice.

I'd rather have the z1 I have a HTC one and xzu the z1s BIGGER brother. Sony Xperia z ultra and z1 is pretty small for Rom development etc. I feel. And HTC one is big for development. But I do prefer the Xperia feel. But HTC one has ir blaster not sure if z1 does too but my xzu doesn't. I am at the moment debating in selling my HTC one and xzu to get a HTC one max . But atm xzu is in repair and since using HTC one as main phone I miss the xzu. As enjoy it more. So that's now making me think twice about getting a HTC one max. But up to you mate.
