Many of you were asking us when Huawei is going to roll out Android 4.4 KitKat update to the ever popular Ascend P6. Huawei promised the customers that Ascend P6 will get KitKat in January this month but that never happened Ė http://huaweinews.com/2014/01/ascend-p6-emotionui-2-3/. Then the time frame was pushed to February after we got a official beta firmware leak on January 30th - http://huaweinews.com/2014/01/androi...eta-ascend-p6/. For those of you asking us by comments and emails about ETA we have responded to you by saying the update will come this month for sure but now it seems like we are wrong.

We are receiving reports that Android 4.4 KitKat update for Ascend P6 is delayed until early March and that news is for the Chinese Unicom version of the P6. We all know that Huawei gives the latest updates first to the Chinese region and international customers gets it later. But since Ascend P6 is a success for Huawei that might change with this update and Huawei might push the update internationally at the same time as they release it for China. But judging from the past experiences it will take at least few more days if not weeks for Huawei to deliver the update outside China.

We might get another leaked firmwares in the meantime and there is a possibility that Huawei will announce the update at MWC 2014 which is scheduled to happen on 24 to 27 this month. But we donít have solid information on that yet. After Huawei releases the Unicom final stable firmware you will be able to flash that on your International Ascend P6 without a problem without waiting for the international firmware release, but that requires some knowledge and if you are a regular reader of HuaweiNews.com you know we have got you covered

hope this isn't the case. Really been looking forward toward the final release.

Considering we are on Feb 13th already I don't see this as an issue. The article reads "Early March" so if that's the case we are 2 weeks away. When I had the Galaxy S3 they moved the 4.2.2 Update deadline several times until it was skipped to go to 4.3.

Anyways I hope it comes on "Early March"....

K. This is my interpretation of the screenshot here http://bbs.anzhi.com/thread-8764244-1-1.html, may not be 100% accurate!

Translation:
Version Emotion UI 2.0 is in the process of making, every single different model has different plans, no ETA, but once there is news, we will update everyone;

P6- Emotion UI 2.0 (Kitkat 4.4) Beta testing please: Click this link. (no link since it is image.) Only limited to Unicom version. Unicom will be first version, in mid Feb may release an improved version (of beta?). For the unicom, telecom, mobile versions (4.4+2.0), stable release is now planned to be released the beginning of next month, and due to the P6 Fans' needs, we will try our best to release the stable version ASAP .

EmotionUI 2.0 the latest news

EmotionUI version 2.0 is already in the planning, different models fit 2.0's plan is not the same. It is reported that, P6, Mate, D2, glory 3, A199, G700 and so under the Scheme, were roughly before May, other models 2.0 is no clear message, a new message will inform you the first time. P6-UI2.0 Unicom version as the first edition, February 21 will provide an improved version (for beta users have signed up in advance only). Unicom, telecommunications, mobile three-standard (4.4 +2.0) stable version of the original plan will be available in March.

This looks great
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2882430410

I saw this somewhere.
Apparently a beta tester posted an image of their update to a stable kitkat beta on the 22nd. I think we aren't getting it because only the beta users get the update pushed via their IMEI number. We'll just have to hope they post it and share.

I'll translate again, but remember, this is an interpretation, not necessarily accurate!

1st picture:
- Is just saying the update is for P6-U06, don't blame if the phone screws up because it is a beta;
- Download button

2nd picture:
Fixes seem to include:
[System]
- Optimize/Stabilize the system
- Optimize the workload of system
- Fix the issue with playing tudou.com videos
- Fix the issue with display images on search Sohu

[Lockscreen]
- Fix the lockscreen "bookmark" ability? <-- I have no idea.... Maybe we can add widgets to lockscreen now with password? Not sure....

3rd Picture:
[Contacts]
Optimized, Dialing speed number ability added

[Notifications]
- Floating Notifications should work now (i.e. facebook chatheads)

[Bluetooth]
Picture is cut off D: and this is the last picture. I wish there was more to this.
-----------------------

Anyways, I hope this can help. Can't wait to get my hands on a stable kitkat :P
