It seems pretty self-explanatory to me, I'd search for HTC One XL microphone.

I'm having the same problem with my galaxy s3. No one can hear me but I can hear them. Speaker phone seems to work, so I wouldn't think it is a microphone issue. And bluetooth calls are flawless.

I know it started with CM11, I'm not sure when as I place few calls, and most are on the road over Bluetooth.

I did and found a solution. Turns out the hole in the chassis for the mic was plugged full of pocket lint. I cleaned it out and it works great now.
I'm unfamiliar with the One X's microphone placement. Perhaps it could be the same issue?
