Default what exactly is a jig?

Hardbricked my s3 and it has KNOX (4.3). Downloaded a 4.3 debrick image and don't have a class 10 sd card. I have a USB 3.0 that has a micro USB (meaning I can plug it into my s3). Would it have the same effect as a jig, or a sd card?

a jig is a device that will force your bricked s3 into download mode, but doesn't always work. Read HERE for more info.
