Hi guys

My coworker softbricked his Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and asked me to try and revive it. He says he WASNT trying to root it, but something was wrong and some tech support person for his carrier got him into Download mode, and now it doesnt boot up beyond the boot-screen.

Advice on where I should start for reviving it?

Kies (even with all the new drivers) hasnt been a help.

I use a Nexus 5, so not that familiar with how to either restore or root (from soft-brick status) a Galaxy S2
